Optimal Installation Location of Escape Route Signs at T-Type Intersections

This study analyzed the decision-making times (DMTs) of participants at T-type indoor intersections according to horizontal/vertical installation locations and arrow directions escape route signs. A total 120 university students participated in study. We DMTs following rates (FRs) required for observe visual stimuli signs installed front then properly select a path direction The results are as follows: (1) exhibited shorter right signs, (2) Simon effect occurred when horizontal location was more than 60 cm away from center intersection on both sides, (3) increased vertical low. Finally, we proposed an optimal support shortest intersections. It is expected that this will provide database DMTs, based during emergency evacuations, be utilized improve guidelines regulations
